Sri Yogachara B.K.S.Iyengar has proved to be one of the most influential Yogis of the 20th century.
“Yoga is like music.
The rhythm of the body
The melody of the mind, and
The harmony of the soul,
Create the symphony of Life.”
The depth of experience that touched his mind, body and soul, through the practice of Astanga yoga (eight limb) was his gift to all, without discrimination. In order that humanity may share in Bliss.
The origins of Yoga
The origin of the philosophy of Yoga dates back more than 2500 years. Yoga is a practice undertaken for purification purposes leading towards liberation. Texts on the subject of Yoga have evolved from the vast volumes of Vedic literature and teachings of the wise and enlightened from the earliest era. The subject was later clarified in a collection of 196 aphorisms written by Patanjali. Patanjali was referred to as an evolved soul incarnated of his own will to help humanity. The practices of Yoga today are drawn from Great Masters connected to the lineage leading back to Patanjali’s recommendations in one’s life quest.Yogasana is method of practice by the body. The practices are varied by technique, alignment, sequence and repetition to remove the obstacles which cause doubt and illusion. This opens up the possibilities of witnessing the true nature of mind, energy and space.

Leanne Donavan   I originally came to Yoga for physical reasons, but soon realized I was gaining psychological and spiritual benefits as well. I became intrigued with this ancient science, open to all who wish to learn, and choose the path of Iyenger Yoga to become a teacher. Yoga provides me with the tools to navigate the often bumpy ride that is life, and brings me to a greater understanding of why this is so and how to make the journey calmer. As a teacher I enjoy sharing my experiences and knowledge with others, and often find that in return I gain just as much from those who share with me.
