Inversions require courage, discipline and consideration. They are exhilarating, necessary and vital.
A practice of Inversions revitalizes the whole system, removes sluggish patterns from the internal organs, promoting stimulation ultimately leading to healthier organic activity. The circulation and glandular systems are improved, uniquely the brain’s blood supply is optimized. Mental and systemic conditions are reduced. One experiences a reduction in mental, emotional and nervous stress and sleep patterns are improved.
I have included inversions in my practice since 1987. As a result of this practice my insecurities have been removed and my nervous and emotional energy reverted back to a healthy condition.
Over the 20 years I have been involved in teaching inversions within the framework as set by B.K.S. Iyengar. It is clearly evident to me that B.K.S.Iyengar completely understood the importance of the correct foundation required in the mind and body that underpins this category of vital asanas. Just as importantly he understood the ill effects produced when practiced incorrectly.

Please note… Inversions are not undertaken during menstruation. There are alternative asanas ideal for this period. Please discuss this with your teacher.
